Coed Ceirw

A woodland area, which lies in the grounds of Cwmrhydyceirw Primary School, the site, comprises several different natural habitats including woodland, stream, pond and grassland.

The local community lacks access to publicly accessible woodland areas for recreation, and there are a few very small playgrounds amongst the housing estates. As the school is already a focal point for both school and community activity, the school plans to improve and create a green space accessible for all. Planned project work includes creating

and extending the woodland area by planting native trees, thinning and removing non-native species, installing a boundary fence, creating all ability access footpaths, and installing a pond dipping platform and seating area so that the woodlands can be better utilised and appreciated by the school and community.
