Treegeneration
Treegeneration is a new Welsh urban forestry initiative developed by Forestry Commission Wales with representatives from the Countryside Council for Wales, Wrexham County Borough Council, Flintshire County Council, Welsh Development Agency and local branches of environmental organisations including the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and Groundwork Trust. The project aims to help improve urban areas by providing support and funding for tree planting schemes. Initially the project is in a pilot phase within the counties of Flintshire and Wrexham, which means regrettably we cannot currently support projects outside these areas. If or when additional funding is secured, we aim to operate across Wales.
Treegeneration aims to: Promote the role of trees and woodlands in urban regeneration and sustainable development in Wales, through the delivery of high quality, well managed tree planting schemes Raise awareness of the economic, social and environmental benefits of urban trees and woodlands Provide a single point of contact for people wanting to plant or manage trees in urban Wales Add value to existing tree and woodland related projects and resources through co-ordination and partnership
Who can apply for funding? During the pilot phase, anyone based in Wrexham or Flintshire can apply for funding, including private business. If you are a community group you must have a written constitution. During the pilot phase , only a limited number of projects will be possible due to limited funding. To get a better idea of whether your project would qualify for funding, you are advised to speak to the Project Officer.
