Review of land managed by Forestry Commission Scotland (2004)

Loch Voil. Cowal and Trossachs FDIn 2004, a comprehensive review of forests and other land managed by Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) took place.  The reasons for the review are set out in the public consultation paper: Review of land managed by Forestry Commission Scotland (PDF 372k).

The Review Working Group's report

On 28 October 2004, following the review exercise, Scottish Ministers announced that they accepted all the recommendations contained in the Review Working Group's report (PDF 228k).

Economic analysis of the forest estate managed by Forestry Commission Scotland

As part of the review, an economic analysis of the contribution of the forest estate managed by FCS was carried out. 

Public consultation

A public consultation exercise sought views from the public on the future of Scotland's national forests.  The consultation period ended on 27 February 2004.  Over 400 replies to public consultation paper (PDF 372k) were received and several public consultation meetings were held around Scotland (reports on which are provided below).
