Elin Jones - Minister for Rural Affairs

 

Elin Jones was born in 1966 and educated at the University of Wales in Cardiff and Aberystwyth.  She was elected as Mayor of Aberystwyth in 1997 and is a former Development Officer for the Development Board for Rural Wales and a Regional Development Manager for the Welsh Development Agency.

She was elected as the Assembly Member for the constituency of Ceredigion at the first National Assembly for Wales election in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007.

Elin speaks Welsh and English.  Her political interests include planning, agriculture and rural affairs.  She is a former Shadow Environment, Planning and Countryside Minister.
