Administrative assistant (pay band 7)

 

Who can apply?

You will need at least two passes at GCSE or 2 SCE Standard grades. One subject must be English Language or English.

There are no age limits though regular and effective service is expected for a reasonable period before reaching a retirement age between 60 and 65.

What is the work like?

Duties typically involve keeping records, sorting and filing papers and some simple figure work – perhaps using a calculator. There may be some straightforward letter-writing and time spent dealing with enquiries from the public. Opportunities for promotion to Administrative Officer level are good.
