Festive fun this Christmas in Scotland
- Tyrebagger Christmas Tree Sales - Aberdeenshire
- Deep in the forest, yet only 5 miles from the centre of Aberdeen, can you think of a better place to choose your Christmas tree?
We sell trees from 1m (3 feet) upwards. The maximum height, provided by special arrangement, is about 11m (35 feet). If you are ordering larger trees, or choosing several at once, then we can arrange for the trees to be ready for you to pick up when you arrive at the sales centre. We also sell Christmas tree stands.
Norway spruce, the traditional Christmas tree, has been joined by pines and firs to offer our customers a greater choice. For those wanting huge trees to stand outside, we are able to provide Norway and Sitka spruce.
Many people find choosing their tree with us has become a real family occasion, parents and children together wandering through the tree pens to choose the perfect tree for their home. - Bailies of Bennachie - Voluntary Work - Aberdeenshire
- The Bailies of Bennachie run work parties on the hill on the first Saturday of each month. Activities include building a path to Craigshannoch and archaeology surveying. For more details see www.bailiesofbennachie.co.uk.

- MORVERN HEALTH WALKS - Highland
- Join us every fortnight (or just when you can) on these guided walks designed to ease you back into activity if you have been sedentary for some time. All walks end with a welcome cuppa. Part of the 'Step It Up Highland' programme - an initiative developed through partnerships with NHS Highland, Paths to Health and Volunteering Highland.
- DECEMBER - Howl at the Moon - Highland
- Join the local Forester for a full moon mountain bike night ride in Rumster Forest.
The 7 mile ride goes along terrain ranging from off road hill routes, forest tracks and gravel trails.
Please bring your own bike, lights, spares and mobile phone. - DECEMBER - Christmas Nordic Walk - Highland
- As part of the Forestry Commission's Active Woods Campaign and World Health Day, why not come along and join the local Forester for an 8 mile Nordic walk and talk in the forest.
Find out what's going on in the forests of the far north and also get some exercise before Christmas.
Nordic poles will be provided. - DECEMBER - Winter Solstice Deliverance - Highland
- Join the Forester for a 9 mile night ride in Borgie Forest along the Lonesome Pine Trail and down and around the Borgie Beast, riding on terrain ranging from public road, forest track and narrow gravel surfaces.
Bring your own bike, lights, spares and mobile phone.
After the event, enjoy a mulled wine or warm drink back at the Log Cabin round the pot bellied stove.

- Christmas Decoday - Moray
- Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful Winding Walks, collect cones and greenery on your way to make your own Christmas decorations. Examples will be on hand to give you help and inspiration! This is an easy walk, and the event will last approximately 2 hours.
- Lantern Making - Moray
- Join our ranger to make lanterns for Hallowe'en. Bring a glass jar to paint, all other materials will be provided.
- Glentress Trailfairies - Scottish Borders
- Trailfairies undertake maintenance work on existing bike trails and help build new sections of trails. Maintenance includes resurfacing worn sections of trail, drainage and adding new features. New trails are built by hand and may include sections of raised timber trail. No experience needed and a great way to give some love back to the trails. - Christmas Celebrations - Stirling
- Christmas trees will be on sale at the David Marshall Lodge throughout December between 10am and 4pm. The Visitor Centre also offers a range of beautiful forest walks and a Christmas Treasure Hunt. Speciality Christmas foods available throughout December from The Bluebell Café. The annual visits by our the Lomond Mountain Rescue team remain as popular as ever. At weekends throughout December there will be a number of festive activities with Forest Rangers on offer. These include the opportunity to make your own Christmas decorations, learn about the importance of feeding the birds through the cold winter months and make your own birdie treats for your garden. £1 fee to cover cost of materials.

- Join Forest Rangers for an autumn afternoon in the forest listening to roaring Stags in the beautiful Loch Katrine area. Bookings only as minibus places are limited. Stout footwear and waterproofs essential. Refreshments available on return.
- Winter Bird Day - Stirling
- Displays and advice on cheap ways to feed the birds in your garden using kitchen scraps and the opportunity to learn how to identify the birds in your garden. There will also be displays and information on wintering wild fowl and the best places to see them. Local specialities available from the Bluebell Cafe.
- Lodge Gathering - Stirling
- Celebrate the Aberfoyle Mushroom Festival in style and meet at the Lodge for an evening of family entertainment. With live music and mushroom themed food; this will be a popular event so book early to avoid disappointment. See Press and Posters nearer the time for more details.

- Join Fungi enthusiast Liz Holden for a two hour guided foray in the forest. These ever-popular guided walks are sure to be booked up well in advance so don’t miss this great opportunity and get your name down now. Suitable footwear and clothing required and children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Halloween Party Night - Stirling
- Magicians, jugglers, ghost stories by the campfire, candlelit ghost walk, arts and crafts, lucky dip and dooking for apples. Bring a torch. All children must be accompanied. Tickets are limited for this popular event, which is regarded as one of the highlights of the season. BBQ and drink included. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
- Nuts About Squirrels - Stirling
- Come along and help celebrate National Red Squirrel Week with Forestry Commission Scotland and Countryside Rangers from the National Park. Find out more about our bushy-tailed friends and take part in squirrel-related activities designed for all the family. Join us on a guided walk to look for squirrel signs and visit a viewing hide where we may be lucky enough to see some of the elusive creatures. Suitable for all the family. The guided walk is approximately 2km (just over 1 mile) long. Bring weatherproof clothing and appropriate footwear. Don't forget to bring some binoculars. Sorry no dogs on the guided walk.
