The Woodland Sounds tape was especially produced for the Tree Trunk. It contains a selection of natural and human sounds that you might hear in Scotland's woodlands and forests. A tape can never take the place of being in a woodland or near trees, but it can help to stimulate the imagination and plant seeds in the minds of those who listed to it.
The tape was prepared for Scottish Natural Heritage by Sounds Natural. Copies of the tape can be obtained from Scottish Natural Heritage: see the item description for details. The tape has been digitised and itemised as part of the Tree Trunk Online project. As well as making it possible to download the sounds via the Internet, this also allows specific sounds to be easily selected and played.
The sounds clips are all held in MP3 format, and in order to hear them on a computer you will need software that can play MP3 files, such as FreeAmp, Winamp, MusicMatch Jukebox or a recent version of Windows Media Player, as well as a sound card and speakers or headphones.
