Welcome to the Ecological Site Classification (ESC) home page.
ESC is a PC-based Decision Support System for British Forests.
The model is designed to match key site factors with the ecological requirements of different tree species and woodland communities, as defined in the National Vegetation Classification for Great Britain.
Version 1.7 was released by the Forestry Commission in May 2001.
