The National Forest Inventory provides a record of the size and distribution of forests and woodlands in Great Britain and information on key forest attributes. This information, together with the Forestry Commission growth and yield models, is used to provide forecasts of forest metrics such as:
- Standing volume;
- Increment;
- Softwood availability.
