Independent panel review and policy statement

The Woodland Policy Enabling Programme was set up by the Forestry Commission and Defra in May 2013. It brought together some of the key elements of the work that were taking place to implement the Government’s Forestry Policy Statement, published in January 2013. This statement was made in response to the Independent Panel on Forestry report.

The Programme aimed to ensure that the changes are planned and carried out in an integrated manner taking full account of the implications for all the objectives of the Forestry Commission in England, including cross-border functions such as Forest Research.
