Plant Health Forestry

The Plant Health Forestry team supports the protection of forests, woods and trees by helping to prevent pests and diseases from arriving on our shores through trade, finding them early if they do arrive and responding appropriately to help to limit their potential harmful effects. We carry out a range of activities including inspecting regulated wood, wood products and bark material entering, leaving, or moving around Great Britain, monitoring woodland health and responding to tree pest and disease outbreaks.

Find out how to identify and report suspected tree pest and disease issues. Please do not send sample material to our offices.

Import, export and movement of timber and wood

If you have a query about importing, exporting or movement of regulated wood, wood products or bark into and within Great Britain, including wood packaging material, dunnage and firewood, please email: plant.health@forestrycommission.gov.uk.
