  • Festive facts

Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, is credited with introducing the Christmas tree to Britain. The tree had long been used in Europe, but it had often been restricted to the nobility and Prince Albert wrote in 1847 that his children should "delight in the Christmas tree". He also sought to make it a tradition in Britain and presented many trees to schools and army barracks for their festivities.
