About Dunsyston

Dunsyston is a young, mixed woodland on the outskirts of Airdrie with a variety of tracks to follow.

Discover signs of old mining or explore the wooded Clattering burn.

There is a network of surfaced and grass paths to explore.

The main surfaced path is suitable for cyclists, while other trails are suitable for horse riding. Contact the office for more information.

How to get there:

Airdire and Chapelhall are the nearest towns or villages.

From junction 6 of M8, travel north on A73 into Chapelhall. Take first right onto minor road at pub and follow until the t-junction at farm.

Turn right and follow the minor road past Wester Dunsyston woodland, and take the first left. Follow the road until the sign for Dunsyston woodland, where there is a small parking area.

a great place for a quiet walk as long as the kids on motocross bikes are not about. Just like every other walkway in the area parking is a joke, why not move the barrier 30ft back and make a small carpark, it's a remote location and parking is a must if the walk is to be used.

A lovely forest which I regularly ride my horse in and walk my dog in. People need to stop parking in front of the entrance though as it makes it difficult for parents with buggies and cyclists to get into the forest - as well as horses to get out - was stuck in there for 30 mins waiting for an inconsiderate dog owner to move her car. Some consideration for other human beings wouldn't go a miss - on that note though, something needs to be done to give us dog walkers somewhere to park cars when we are walking our dogs - it can get quite busy with cars at the weekend - and can you do something about the kids with their petrol bikes and quad bikes - they are spoiling the place for everyone

We hacked in this forest for the first time on Saturday (24/03/12) and it was fantastic! We are planing on going back next week & i have also planned to take the family walking there aswell. Beautiful :)
