Shrawley Wood

(Average user rating5 unrated 4.1/5)

As one of the largest small-leaved lime woodlands in the country, Shrawley wood really is something special. On top of that it has a spectacular display of bluebells April/May.

Visitors may park behind the New Inn pub (small charge applies) but are asked to patronise the pub in return!

How to get there:

Shrawley Wood is part of Wyre Forest Area Woodlands. Shrawley is the nearest town or village.

On the B4196 between Astley Cross and Shrawley.

Postcode WR6 6TF

OS Grid Reference: SO799663

great woods especially when the bluebells are out, the pub is a problem when it comes to parking. We have recently seen a unusual animal in the woods, it looks like a muntjac but it is very small.

Sadly no longer use the wood to blow away the cobwebs as we used to, due to lack of parking. Parking at and patronising the New Inn in return is fine for visitors to the area but it is unreasonable for those who are local and just want an evening stroll or a bit of excitement for the dogs to be obliged to use the pub every time. I cannot see why a small parking area could not be provided at the top of the lane actually in the wood for such use.

Lovely woods. A parking area would be good but the Village Hall is quite handy. Agree with George about the New Inn. Very inhospitable. It used to be free to park there, and it used to have a sign outside saying "walkers welcome". It was taken away two to three years ago, that says it all. How mean. I shall try the Rose & Crown sometime. I can recommend the Hampstall Inn at Astley Burf, friendly, good food, great chips.
