Bolderwood

Situated on an old coaching route, Bolderwood has all the ingredients for a family day out. Get close to the famous herd of Fallow deer which live in and around Bolderwood. Bring a picnic and spend all day exploring the waymarked trails, cycle or just relax in the sun.

How to get there:

Bolderwood is in New Forest.
By Car
Bolderwood is located 2 miles north-west of Emery Down, which is off the A35 just west of Lyndhurst.
By Bike
Cycle on 4 mile waymarked route from Burley. Or cycle along the Rinefield and Bolderwood Ornamental drive from Brockenhurst.
Emery Down and Lyndhurst are the nearest towns or villages.

Wonderfully enthralling. The thick, dense forests and sensuous greenery make it a wonderful walk for the family. Lots of places availiable for a picnic, you will be spoilt for choice. Definatley worth a visit. I will definatley be returning.

During the summer months there is an ice cream van on site.

Other Facilities

Waymarked trails provide an excellent opportunity to wander through the woods. Cycle routes also begin from here. Picnic sites and a special deer viewing platform make this a special place to visit.

Walking
Stroll though the trees at Bolderwood Aboretum. Select one of our waymarked trails, follow the coloured posts and enjoy the sights and sounds of the New Forest. The marker posts will return you to the car park.

Bolderwoood is easy to reach via the large marker posts from forest villages.

Take a trip along the Bolderwood Ornamental drive. This is a windy road passing through Ancient amd Ornamental woodlands. Why not stop off at the Knightwood Oak? Or continue your route, crossing the A35, to include the picturesque Rhinefield Drive, where you can stop off at the Blackwater Arboretum and take in the magnificence of the redwoods along the Tall Trees Trail.
Educational
For further information on the New Forest take a look at our information unit, situated in the shade of the trees at Bolderwood. The unit is open from Easter onwards. If you have any questions about the New Forest why not speak to one of our rangers who are on site every weekend and school holidays from Easter to the end of october.
Fishing
Coarse fishing in the New Forest is available at Hatchet Pond. A Forestry Commission fishing permit is required along with a rod license. For more information on Fishing in the New Forest please click on the link for Coarse Fishing under related pages.
Camping
Information on camping in the New Forest can be obtained from Forest holidays either by clicking on the Forest holidays link to the right of the page, or by calling them on 0845 130 8224. ****Please note that wild camping is not allowed in the New Forest. Only use the designated campsites. We also recommend that you book your pitch in advance as the campsites can become very busy in the holiday periods.****
Barbecue
There are specially designed picnic tables at Bolderwood which are for disposable BBQs to be placed on. Please remember to follow the BBQ code, which is displayed on site and take all your rubbish home with you or place it in the bins provided.
Picnic
Bring a rug and have your picnic sat on the green and enjoy the sun.Or if you prefere to be in the shade you can take advantage of the picnic tables situated under the canopy of large Douglas Fir trees.
