As caravanners at Englethwaite Hall,we have walked HS at all times of day in all seasons except winter for the past 20 years and our sightings of the Red Squirrels have definately lessened, particularly over the last 2/3 years, even at the usually popular locations. However we always enjoy the serenity, and the promise of wildlife sightings!

My family have been walking in HS for over 15years and have enjoyed every single visit We have noticed a great deal of change in that time but this has not affected the wildlife we have seen.
Lots of different routes for all the family

What's of interest

In January 2005 the great storm that swept across Cumbria significantly remodelled the forest. Whilst we consider the future management of the windblown areas nature is slowly deciding for us.
