Recreation at Bowness Knott Car Park

 

Bowness Knott is a small car park at the western edge of the Ennerdale Valley. It provides a wonderfull starting point for walks around the Ennerdale Water, up the mountains or simply a short walk down the lakeshore.

Walkers are welcome to explore the whole of Ennerdale. The Forest is dedicated under the Countryside and Rights of Way (CROW) Act.

Cyclist are welcome to enjoy the 14 miles of forest roads and bridlways available in the valley.

How to get there:

Bowness Knott Car Park is in Ennerdale. Ennerdale Village is the nearest town or village.

From Cockermouth take the A5086 towards Egrement. At Lamplugh take the minor road to Ennerdale Bridge. In Ennerdale Bridge turn left for Croasdale and "The lake" Follow the road until it ends at Bowness Knott Car Park

	Bowness Knott has a limited number of picnic tables. Please take your litter home.
	The view from Bowness up the valley torwards Pillar with the shimmering Ennerdale Water in the foreground is one of the best views in the western lakes.
