About The Miners trail
The trail starts at the Visitor Centre and winds along the head of the valley, following a leat which once carried water from Llyn Pendam to power the old lead mines at Cwmbrwyno. Kestrels, Buzzards, Ravens, and the majestic Red kite may be seen here, soaring in the strong upcurrents which rise from the fertile valleys. A short steep climb crosses a hillside clad in purple Heather and rich green Bilberry and descends through Larch woodlands planted in the early 1960's, to Pond Llwyernog where you may rest at the water's edge before returning to the Visitor Centre. Red kite feeding takes place on the shore of the lake near the Visitor Centre daily at 3pm BST (2pm winter).
