Allt Mor Forest Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Allt Mor Forest Trail

Leave the car park by the footbridge over the Allt Mor, a spate river which carries vast quantities of water after snow melt or heavy rain to the River Spey via Loch Morlich.

Follow the yellow waymarkers through an area cleared of trees - part of a managemant plan to restore native woodland by removing introduced tree species. Carry straight on along this road, over two bridges, to reach the track leading into the Ryvoan Pass.

Turn left along this track and in about 400 metres, bear left again onto a footpath which runs below Glenmore Lodge Outdoor Training Centre and close to some animal gravestones. Follow the river downstream until reaching the main road. Turn left over the bridge, immediately left again and then right onto a path, which runs parallel with the ski road back to the Allt Mor car park.

A shorter walk may be taken by turning left at a junction approximately 500 metres from the bridge over the Allt Mor beside the car park. This crosses another footbridge and onto the trail described above.

How to get there:

Allt Mor Forest Trail can be started from Allt Mor Car Park in Glenmore which is part of Glenmore Forest Park. Aviemore is the nearest town or village.

Take the ski road from Aviemore towards the Cairngorms and after six miles you will be in Glenmore Forest Park.

Go through Glenmore Village and cross the bridge over the Abhainn Ruigh-eunachan. The Allt Mor car park is approximately 0.75 miles beyond the bridge on the left hand side of the road (a green Forest Enterprise sign indicates the access point).
