About Glashan Walks

Please note that due to storm damage and harvesting operations all of the trails are closed at Glashan. We will notify you as soon as we can when they are to re-open. Sorry for the inconvenience. (Updated April 2012)

The yellow forest walk (Risby's Loch Trail) begins to climb above the level of the dam, great views open up over the loch and in to the heart of Kilmichael forest. After a short distance the route turns away from the forest road and up towards Risby's Loch.

The red forest walk (Glashan Burn Trail) takes you through the broadleaved woodland alongside the Glashan Burn, bringing you out just below the Glashan Dam to return to the car park.

This small shallow loch provides the perfect habitat for dragonflies and other dependant insects. The walk fords a small burn beside a ruined croft from where the track then the road takes you back to the car park.
